Limited access range. Hours are not as stated in advertisment. If you arrive at range after 7 pm, you will be told promptly by their staff that lanes are closed and no more shooters are allowed. Even if there are 4 empty lanes available. Their hours are posted proudly outside their door as closing at 8 PM weekdays. What they do not tell you when you become a member is their hours are really close at 7 for shooters. Of course you are not told you cannot buy anything, you just can's shoot. Now, understand I have purchased a $330 family "edge" membership as well as spent in excess of $2000 at this range in the past month. So if you think membership has it's privileges, think again. Am I mad at this place, you bet. Do I wish I had never purchased a membership, you bet. Will I go elsewhere now, yep, no doubt. Will I loose $330 in membership fees? Pretty sure that will happen.

looking for a shooting range close by and found Caswells. People were friendly and explained everthing about membership and store hours including the difference between store hours and shooting range hours. Good relaxed atmosphere lots of friendly helpful people. Got right in to a lane wihtin minutes. Spent a lot of time discussing classes for my kids. Caswell staff looked for items we needed from the store while we were shooting and had them ready when we were done.

Its no frills, I dont need fancy couches and lounges. Its a great afforable and safe place to shoot. We live in Gilbert and it has a great location. Of course ammo is marked up there but they let you ring your own. You do the math.
People are spoiled .

I had a great experience at Caswells over the weekend. I went down to do some regular range shooting and the place looked really sharp. They have a ton of new items and the prices on stuff is less expsenseive than those little shops around ton. As far as a comparison with SGC, Caswells is better priced, nicer staff and great service. I bought an edge membership and now I can shoot for free all year long, what a deal!

We've been using Caswells for 3 1/2 years, and the crew has always been top notch. My wife even goes by herself on "Ladies night", and they must have spent close to an hour with her finding the right pocket knife. Paul was very professional, and informative for our CCW class, and we intend to go back for renewal. C ya'll in about a month--I'll be the guy with a good tan--stuck in Hawaii..LL

What a great time. I signed up for a Concealed Carry Class at Caswells and it was great. The Class was very detailed, provided a lot of good info and had a good pace. The staff during the time I was there was very helpful and friendly and follow class I got to shoot for free. I took my CCW a long time ago and let it lapse so I had to redo the entire thing again. Not having been in Caswells for several years the place is totally different. There are lots of items to check out, prices are really good compared to sportsman's, cabella's and bass pro. I was really surpirsed and impressed how nice the place was. Just reading through some of the comments from other folks and how dated or old their postings are I cannot say they reflect Caswells today. If you are looking for good customer serivce and good prices I would recommend it. You can shoot just about anywhere in the city, I think its the staff that makes a differnce in your enjoyment of any establishment.

The range is nice, as is the store. They have a good selection of goods, but as noted in other reviews, their prices are somewhat outrageous. Seriously, where else do they charge $11.95 for a box of CCI Subsonic .22 LR rounds? I know businesses need to mark up items to make a profit, but that is DOUBLE the normal price. I observed other items that were significantly higher than other stores.

The range is decent quality-wise, it sits solidly between Scottsdale Gun Club and Shooter's World for indoor Valley ranges. The target controllers are digital, one just punches in the desired distance up to 65 feet, and the carrier goes out to it. A little longer wall between shooting lanes would be nice, though, it's a little disconcerting getting hit with the blast of the 40S&W next door while you're trying to shooot.

Overall a decent range and store experience with nice employees. I will be bringing my own ammo in the future, that's for sure! Recommended.

On Oct 30 2007 I called Caswells and was directed to a recorded statement of their hrs of operation 9-8. On Oct 31 I drove from Queen Creek, about 30 miles 1hr in traffic and arrived at Caswells at 6p to find it closed. The following day I called asked for owner, not available so I talked to male purporting to be manager. He took the position it was my fault because if I had ignored their recording and called and spoke to a salesman, I would have known they were closed. Duh I would never do any business with Caswells, because anyone in business know that crap happens, but decent business do what they can to rectify the problem, not be a weasel and ry to blame the customer for their screwup.

Overall Caswell's is a good range. You can't be all things to all people, so everyone must weigh the pros and cons before buying a membership. I do not have a membership to Caswell's but I shoot there often. I wouldn't buy firearms or accessories there because the prices are higher than most other places, but if you're looking for a place to go that's climate controlled and user friendly, Caswell's is the place. You can go out to Usery and be in the hot sun and shoot all day for $5, but my momma didn't raise a fool. Until another indoor range opens up in the southeast valley that's affordable, Caswell's will continue to get my business.

I"m not a member but shot there for the first time this weekend. The staff were helpful and the range was fine. I went in the morning and it wasn't too crowded. They were quick to keep the brass off of my feet so it was good experience and I'm sure I'll return. When you first pull in the parking lot may look full but they have additional parking beyond the gate.

I don't like complaining about shooting ranges because there are to few of them but, it seems to me that they need a professional manager.
The shooting area is too cramped. There are no accomodations for placing ammo or setting up. The target holders are a joke. Counter personnel could be friendlier. I could go on but why kick a dead horse.

My wife and I just got back from "Ladies Night". We won't be back. We were first time shooters that had no clue. The girl at the counter didn't ask us anything, just what gun and pick your targets. So we said, "A 9mm?" And she asked how much ammo? And we said we don't know we've never done this before, how much should we get for an hour? She said 2 boxes. So here goes 2 newbie shooters with no instruction, no clue with a loaded gun! Yeah!

We grabbed the sweeper guy to show us how to load and stuff.

After an hour we went to checkout, the bill was $75. We thought it was OUTRAGEOUS at the time and after coming home and looking up comparable ammo prices and other stuff, it is! We will NEVER GO BACK.

We had fun eventually firing the gun, but the HORRID customer service makes the whole place UNSAFE. We'll spend our money at a different shooting range in the future.
